New items - Victorian maiden, Angelic Pretty, Algonquins

In all the excitement of last week, we almost forgot to tell you about a few things. Like, for example, a lot of the new stuff we've recently gotten. Some of you may have actually noticed that we've been posting a lot of these new products to our web site over the past week, but we've still got more to go up.

First, we got a bunch of new stuff from Angelic Pretty, including many handbag styles, several non-print jumper skirts and coordinate sets, the Cotton Candy skirt that's currently on the front page, and lots of small accessories like parasols (only in sax blue, that's all they had), wristcuffs and headbows. The smaller items will be the last to go on our site, but many of the other items are already up. We sold out of the AMO collaboration Moon Night Story bags in literally seconds, and the heart bags are now almost sold out too (only lavender is left), so it's best to hurry if we have something from AP that you want.

We will be getting more AP soon, though - specifically the Jewelry Jelly series (and a round of group orders, for those of you waiting). We'll have this series in a variety of colors and styles, hopefully around the middle of next week. By the way, if you're wondering about the title of this series, it is really Jewelry Gelée. The original Japanese uses the borrowed French word, not the English one. But when AP translated it for their international web site, they went with "Jelly", so that's what we've started using too.

We also sent out a bunch of Victorian maiden reserve orders on Tuesday, and as part of our last shipment we received two new bags and two beautiful new dresses. The bags are up for purchase now in the VM collection on our site; the dresses will follow soon. The Fairy Doll Puff Sleeve Dress in black/amethyst is currently in our window display, and the Tulip Garden Dress is available for purchase off the rack. Both will be up for purchase on the site within the next few days. The Fairy Doll Puff Sleeve Dress was reserve only - it was never really available for general sale, and has been listed as sold out on VM's site since release. But we have it.

And lastly, while a lot of our recent Algonquins shipment sold during last weekend's festivities, we still have a good number of handbags in stock, plus one color of the Bambi ear coat, as well as a few new cutsews and skirts that we need to post to the site. Check out the handbags on the site now - there are a lot of cool styles available. We've completed posting the bags to our site, so if you've been waiting for that, they're all there.  Oh, and we got a lot of Patti-chans and Jacks!  But they're not exactly the same as what we had on the site before, so they'll be added as new products in due time.

Misako Aoki event photos 2! Final stage!

We've got one last set of photos from last Saturday's event with Misako Aoki to bring you... these are the shots from the second camera we had working that day. New angles! Behind the scenes stuff! (Kind of.) Some cool shots in this mix that you haven't seen before.

By the way, if you see yourself here (or in the previous post) and either a) don't want to be here, or b) want to have the original size photo for yourself, just send us an email. (This applies to the individual shots with Misako, we can't send full sets.)

The crowd begins to arrive...

Misako wanted a group photo before starting.

Group photo from the side.  This crowd was mostly just the people with low line numbers! More came throughout the event.

After taking the group shot, we went back in to prepare for a minute.

Waiting crowd...

Misako gets ready.  She actually left these cards with us, and we'll be decorating our store with them soon.

Still getting ready.

Waiting for us to let people in :)  She liked our balloons.

Just before leaving...

Bye bye!
If you didn't see us post this on EGL, Misako also wrote a lot about this trip and her visit to our store on her own blog - she used a lot of our pictures!  And a lot of her own too.  You can use something like Google Translate to help you read them.  It seems you guys all made a big impression on her.  We hope she will come back sometime for another event!  Some links:

This set's just cute, from the fashion show: http://ameblo.jp/ribbon-misa/entry-10466505439.html

Well, that closes out our coverage of the event! But don't worry, we will have Misako's new magazine Gothic & Lolita Ensemble here in our physical store shortly (probably tomorrow!), so all you local Misako fans can have something new to look at.

Featured outfit! SPR's Cannibal coordinates

This is something we've meant to start doing for a while now, and hopefully it'll be a regular thing on our blog. A lot of people come to our store and just look at individual items by themselves, and they do the same on our web site. But the secret to looking good is coordinating! A lot of the Japanese brands produce sets to take the guesswork out of coordinating, and we've started carrying more of those recently. But there's also an art to putting together an outfit of different items, and we'll hopefully show you some ideas for outfits like that in the future too.

For the first one, though, we're going to look at the "Cannibal" set from SEX POT ReVeNGe, mostly because we discovered this photo in the just-released April issue of KERA:

Yes, that's Misako wearing SEX POT!

This set also just happens to be in our window right now.

The items she's wearing are:

Cannibal Crown Skirt (pink check) - $89
Cannibal Freak Shirt (pink check) - $79
Empress Crown Trench Coat - $149

We also carry the shirt in a white check pattern and the skirt in plain black, if pink is a little too feminine for you. (SPR doesn't produce a white check version of the skirt, or a plain black version of the shirt.)

We don't have a lot of sets in stock right now, so hurry if you want one now - but we'll get more in our next shipment.

You can still purchase these items individually, especially if you want to make your own pants coordinate like the one above. But they look great as a matching set.

Misako Aoki event photos!

Yesterday's event was a big success! We want to thank all of you who came out to see Misako Aoki, and we want to thank her staff and of course, Misako Aoki herself. She really couldn't be a nicer person and it was her desire to meet all of you that really opened the door for this event. It was also by her request that we lifted the line number cap - she wanted to see as many people there as possible. We had limited the number because our store is small and we didn't know how much time she'd have, but she just wanted to see a whole lot of Lolitas.

On to some photos!

We had two cameras going at the event - these are the shots from one of them. If you were there and your photo isn't here (or if we were supposed to email it to you and we haven't yet), it's just on the other camera and we haven't seen those yet. We can hopefully post more later.

A few initial crowd shots:

Misako arrives! Those of you who were at the Tokyo Fashion Festa the night before might recognize the woman behind her as MOA, the singer from the show. She took all of the photos of this event for Misako.

In a lot of our photos, you'll see Misako looking off-camera, because she's actually looking at her own.

Misako wanted a group shot outside before the event - tough to get because we're just on a regular NYC street. We literally had to stop traffic to get some half-decent shots (hopefully her own shots don't have her blocked by a moped). It was quite a scene.

We've hired a new cashier - we think she'll help draw in some customers. (Kidding, kidding.)

After this, we began letting people in groups of people, and she signed autographs and took photos with everyone individually.

This was the most crowded our little store has ever been. Because we handed out numbers and some people wanted to avoid the initial crowds (which we encouraged), a lot of people came later during the event. We thought the fact that she was taking photos at the fashion show the night before might cause some of those people to stay home, but about 90% of those who signed up actually came to the event. It was about 100 people total.

That's all we got for now. Hopefully this was just the first of many such events we'll hold in the future.

Afterwards, a couple of the girls decided to decorate our balloons:
