Misako Aoki event photos!
Yesterday's event was a big success! We want to thank all of you who came out to see Misako Aoki, and we want to thank her staff and of course, Misako Aoki herself. She really couldn't be a nicer person and it was her desire to meet all of you that really opened the door for this event. It was also by her request that we lifted the line number cap - she wanted to see as many people there as possible. We had limited the number because our store is small and we didn't know how much time she'd have, but she just wanted to see a whole lot of Lolitas.
On to some photos!
We had two cameras going at the event - these are the shots from one of them. If you were there and your photo isn't here (or if we were supposed to email it to you and we haven't yet), it's just on the other camera and we haven't seen those yet. We can hopefully post more later.
A few initial crowd shots:
Misako arrives! Those of you who were at the Tokyo Fashion Festa the night before might recognize the woman behind her as MOA, the singer from the show. She took all of the photos of this event for Misako.
In a lot of our photos, you'll see Misako looking off-camera, because she's actually looking at her own.
Misako wanted a group shot outside before the event - tough to get because we're just on a regular NYC street. We literally had to stop traffic to get some half-decent shots (hopefully her own shots don't have her blocked by a moped). It was quite a scene.
We've hired a new cashier - we think she'll help draw in some customers. (Kidding, kidding.)
After this, we began letting people in groups of people, and she signed autographs and took photos with everyone individually.
This was the most crowded our little store has ever been. Because we handed out numbers and some people wanted to avoid the initial crowds (which we encouraged), a lot of people came later during the event. We thought the fact that she was taking photos at the fashion show the night before might cause some of those people to stay home, but about 90% of those who signed up actually came to the event. It was about 100 people total.
That's all we got for now. Hopefully this was just the first of many such events we'll hold in the future.
Afterwards, a couple of the girls decided to decorate our balloons:
