When designers Masumi Kano and Mitsuba were here earlier this month, we had the chance to show them a bit of the city, and we had the idea that we could use some of the photos we took to help promote the idea of wearing Lolita every day. Both of them wear Lolita as their everyday clothes, and we want to encourage you to take inspiration from them and wear your own Lolita clothes as daily wear! ♪
Don't be afraid to wear Lolita anywhere! Our store has been here for two years and we know from talking to people in our neighborhood that they're now used to seeing Lolitas around here - the more people wear the style on a daily basis, the more acceptance there is for the fashion.
Kano and Mitsuba do attract attention. (And why not? They look amazing!) There's no doubt that anyone who wears Lolita is going to turn heads, but you can either do what Kano and Mitsuba do and just go with it, or you can tone things down a little by wearing mixed styles like punk Lolita or gothic Lolita, or just a more casual coordinate. Wear what you're comfortable with!
We admit to an agenda: our goal is to have an army of Lolitas roaming the streets of New York at all times. The more that people are exposed to the fashion, the more fans it will attract. That helps everyone involved, including us and you. And we know from experience that some of our new visitors lately have come in after just seeing Lolitas walking around! There's no better way to get people interested in Lolita fashion than if they see it being worn in person.
You don't need to be a "lifestyle Lolita" like Kano and Mitsuba. This is just about clothes. If you like them, wear them!
More than anything else, the clothes you choose to wear are a form of self expression. And we - meaning Tokyo Rebel and Baby, the Stars Shine Bright - want to encourage you to express yourself by wearing your favorite style as much as you can! ♫
