A quick but important note on paying with PayPal at ComicCon
As we mentioned earlier, we're planning not only to accept cash payments but also credit cards and PayPal at New York ComicCon starting Thursday! You may wonder how this will work, so you know what to bring.
Paying with PayPal should be very simple, but you must have access to your PayPal account from your own smartphone or tablet. Sorry for the short notice, but this only makes sense - we can't deduct money from your PayPal account on our own, for obvious security reasons. While at the con, we can either send you an invoice that you can pay immediately while at the booth, or you can pay without an invoice using PayPal's automatic local retailer detection service. But either way, you must use your own device. Consider installing the PayPal app for Android or iOS on your device ahead of time, or you can also log in via a web browser.
If you're curious how we'll be handling credit card payments, we'll also be doing that via PayPal Here - a smartphone-based card reader. All you need is your credit card, like paying at any normal retailer. We'll take your signature on a smartphone and give you both a register receipt and email you a credit card receipt.
Just in case, because radio signals in the Javits Center can be spotty, we recommend also carrying a debit card if possible. The Javits Center does have ATM machines for cash. But we've tested this system extensively so as long as we've got a cellular or wi-fi signal at the con, we'll be taking PayPal and cards.
See you in a couple of days!
